About me

I am Jamshad Arshad, a Software Engineer from Greater Manchester. I have a knack for creativity and enjoy testing my limits, often stepping outside my comfort zone. This pursuit frequently leads to unique experiences and obtaining new skills.

I was first introduced to the tech industry by a friend, who is also a software engineer. I spend a lot of my free time working on coding challenges, creating applications and learning about the world of tech. I enjoy learning how things work and the endless possibilities of what the tech industry can do to improve society. I am excited about the challenges I am undoubtedly going to face and I am looking forward to continuing my journey in tech.

I like to play basketball, train mixed martial arts, travel, watch movies, play puzzle oriented games and meet new and unique people. I like to stay active and enjoy challenging my intellect whenever the opportunity arises. I have always enjoyed problem-solving, and coding is a way to solve different problems.

  1. Police Officer

    2019 — 2023

    Worked as a Police Officer for GMP for 4 years; this helped me develop a high level of transferable skills, which include presentation, problem-solving, communication, attention to detail, multitasking, patience, dealing with adversity, empathy and teamwork. Within this role, I interacted with individuals from all different walks of life. Being a frontline Police Officer dealing with an abundance of different situations has given me a well-rounded skill set and improved my people skills immensely, even in high-stress situations. This has helped me become confident in myself and my capabilities, gain a strong work ethic, thrive in fast-paced environments and keep a positive and welcoming attitude.

  1. All in One Travel App

    Tech Stack - TypeScript, ReactJS, HTML and CSS

    A side project/start up with 2 other Software Engineers. The aim is to make travel more budget friendly and accessable to all. The app is hosted on AWS using a serverless architecture, and utilising multiple third party APIs.

    I used JavaScript to pull data from a Weather API and dynamically updated the background to the user's search location.

    Web App consisting of a login page, I used the database to hold user credentials for authentication when signing in.
